Frank W. Kleist, MD

Dr. Frank W. Kleist is Board Certified in Psychiatry, an APA Distinguished Life Fellow, Diplomate of the Board of Medical Examiners, former President of Tulare County Medical Society and has received a Gold Achievement Award from the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Kleist led an unpromising early life on a Wisconsin farm till running away at age fifteen to earn a living milking cows. After serving in the military, working as a psychometrician and attending nine colleges, he eventually graduated from the University of Illinois with highest academic honors. His M.D. degree is from the University Of Utah College Of Medicine including membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha academic honor society. Dr. Kleist completed internship in Cincinnati and Psychiatry Residency in Utah where he was Chief Resident. After completing a program in health care administration from UCLA, Dr. Kleist began working in several administrative and clinical positions including Clinical Director of the Tulare County Department of Mental Health and private practice. At age 82, he enjoys family, travel, book clubs, cycling, minor building projects and gardening.
