Fayaz Ibrahim, MD
Dr. Fayaz Ibrahim is the Vice Chair for the Department of Psychiatry and Director of Geriatric Psychiatry Training at KDHCD. Dr. Ibrahim was co-recipient of the 2012 Faculty of the Year Award for the Department of Psychiatry. He received a Medical Degree from the Rajiv Gandhi University and completed a program in epidemiology and biostatistics at University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Dr. Ibrahim completed his Psychiatry residency at State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center. During residency, Dr. Ibrahim distinguished himself in academics winning a national award for original research work on mental illness in older adults. Prior to joining KDHCD, Dr. Ibrahim worked as an Attending Psychiatrist in Queens, New York at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. He has a special interest in evolutionary psychiatry and treating older adults with mental illness. He enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and skiing and is multi-lingual speaking Hindi, Kannada, Telugu and Urdu.
