One-on-one appointments and group classes are scheduled
between the hours of 8 am to 4 pm. Contact number is 559-624-2823.
Patients can be seen one-on-one with an educator or in
group classes depending on their insurance and patient preference. We encourage family members to attend also.
We take almost all insurances and when your referral is
received – our staff checks your insurance benefits as a courtesy before we
call to schedule the appointment.
There are two certified diabetes educators – a Registered
Dietitian and a Registered Nurse (our
nurse speaks Spanish).
We teach insulin injections and can assist physicians in
the management of insulin doses to get blood sugars in control faster. We also teach how to give other injectble
medications for diabetes
We can provide a glucose meter and teach how to use it.
We train patients on insulin pumps and continuous glucose
sensors.
Education topics include:
- Diet and carbohydrate counting
- Use of medications (pills and insulin)
- Preventing and treating low and high blood sugars
- Preventing complications to eyes, feet, heart, kidneys
- Emotional well-being in Diabetes
- Pregnancy and Diabetes
- Feet care/skin care/dental care
- Sick day rules
- Labs and recommended exams
Medical Nutrition Therapy
A Registered Dietitian is available to work with people on
nutrition related needs such as obesity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure,
kidney disease, liver disease, and many more.
A referral is required by the patient’s health care provider and
appointments can be made Monday through Friday, between 8 am to 4 pm. Contact number is 559-624-2823.
