Kaweah Delta Hospital Guild
The Kaweah Delta Hospital Guild, initiated in 1956 by Kay
Fleming, has proudly been volunteering for nearly 60 years. To date, the
Guild has purchased over $1 million in patient care equipment and worked
just over a million total service hours since its founding.
The Guild is an important part of the hospital’s team. Guild volunteers serve
in the surgery waiting room, the intensive care unit, discharge service,
hemodialysis, and the book cart. Additionally, there are many dedicated
volunteers who commit themselves to comforting patients by making
quilts and baby blankets and delivering teddy bears to children.
A faithful group of volunteers that calls themselves
"Pillow Pals" cut embroider, sew and stuff pillows for little
children who come to the emergency room and other areas. Oncology and
Rehabilitation volunteers make lap robes, caps and pillows for these areas. In
the 2012-2013 workshop, 480 lap robes and 720 pillows were made and taken to
the patients on various campuses such as Sub-Acute Care and 3S.
The Guild Courtyard located in the hospital’s main
lobby is operated solely by Guild volunteers and is a wonderful place to
shop. It’s open to visitors, patients and hospital employees. Flowers, candy,
magazines, cards and lovely gift items are sold. Visitors may call in a phone
order for flowers and the arrangements will be delivered directly to a
patient's rooms at the caller's request. For more information on the Guild Courtyard, call (559) 624-2217 or click HERE
