International Students

Letter to Students Attending Non-US based Medical Schools

Thank you for your interest in a rotation at Kaweah Delta Health Care District:

Kaweah Delta Health Care District does not accept international medical students except those with whom we have affiliation agreements. Rare exceptions are made, when medical students have very close ties to the Central Valley and are a US citizen/permanent US resident.

For further consideration as an applicant, please send a letter of petition that documents your close and specific ties to the Central Valley area. Please also send a copy of your medical school transcripts and USMLE board scores.

Your petition letter, transcripts and board scores will be reviewed by the Office of Graduate Medical Education Clerkship Director. You will be contacted within several weeks of receipt of paperwork with the decision or pending items.

Please also note that if you are accepted, the application fee per week is $425.00. Please do not submit an application or elective fees at this time. If you are approved, the Medical Student Coordinator will be in contact with you regarding the next steps.

Please note international students can only apply for the following CORE rotations- (Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, OB/GYN, Pediatrics and an Emergency Medicine Elective). Rotation start dates in the months of July-October are not permitted.

Please submit required paperwork (petition letter, transcripts and USMLE board scores) directly to the GME office via mail or email.
